Beth Glubczynski, Director - I have 12 years of daycare experience. Currently I am attending Illinois Central College, pursuing my Associates Degree in general education. I already have my CDA. Outside of work, I have helped with my son’s Cub Scout Troop, coached my son’s Floor Hockey Team, and helped with school holiday parties. I enjoy watching the children grow, develop, and reach developmental milestones in their lives. It is nice to see the positive influences that the teachers give the children on a daily basis.
Heather Oswald - I have been working with children for 9 years. Before coming to Whiz Kidz, I worked in a group daycare, home daycare, tutoring program, and a classroom of 4th-8th graders. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Illinois State University where I received my Bachelors in Education. I hold an Illinois type 03 teaching license with a reading teacher endorsement. Outside of being a teacher, I am a parent and spend my free time with my daughter. I continue to grow as a professional by maintaining my love of literacy. In the classroom, my goals are to create a collaborative community in which all the students act and feel like important parts of the group. Within the community classroom, students can be safe to explore themselves and their world. My favorite part of teaching is the smile of a child who has learned something new and knows that he/she has succeeded.
Kelly Irvin - I have 11 years teaching experience in special education. I have my undergraduate degree in Special Education from Eastern Illinois University and a Masters in Early Childhood from the University of Phoenix. Outside of work, I volunteer as a 4-H Archery Instructor, coached my kids gymnastic team, been a clogging instructor, and enjoy being a team mom for my son’s JFL Team. My goal in the classroom is to have the children explore their environment through their 5 senses. Through these experiences, the children learn more about their surroundings and work toward exploring more, therefore expanding their minds. Seeing the children accomplish a task for the first time is most rewarding for me. Meeting those developmental milestones is exciting for the child as well as their care givers.
Sandra Tennell - I have spent 5 years in a group day care setting and 25 years as a home daycare provider, as well as a foster parent. I have an associate’s degree and many hours of workshops to enlighten my knowledge for preschool children. Outside of work, I spend time encouraging my 5 grandchildren in their many musical, sports, and academic activities. My husband and I enjoy competing in an occasional 5K race. My goals for the classroom are to encourage the little ones to adjust to sharing their toys and to cope with having to wait a little bit to have personal attention. Also I reinforce how to respond appropriately to “yes” and “no” questions, to say “please” and “thank you,” and to follow a two step set of directions. It is amazing how early leadership and compassionate qualities develop and are apparent through their personalities.
Sarah Morris - I have worked in the childcare field for 3 years. I have also worked for the Pekin High School Show Choir for 2 years as their choreographer. I went to ICC with an interest in Occupational Therapy. Outside of work, I practice Jiu Jitsu and scrapbooking. I strive to meet the individual goals and needs of the children while supplying a creative learning environment for the children. I’m very happy to be able to watch the children in our center grow and develop on an individual basis.
Cindy Meredith - I have been in the childcare field for 16 years. Being in childcare for as long as I have been, I have attended numerous seminars to accumulate MANY in-service hours. While at home, I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren. My goals for the students in my classroom are to provide a safe, fun, and learning atmosphere. I enjoy treating each child as an individual with his/her own special needs and preparing them for Kindergarten. I like to see the children sharing and showing respect for one another and accepting each other for the person they are.
Ellen Smith - Prior to Whiz Kidz, I worked with young children for 11 years as an early intervention aid with TCRC, as well as with school age children for 6 years. Each year I participate in 20 plus hours of in-service, pertaining to child development. One of my favorite past times is reading a variety of books, and I love to read to the children. In the classroom, one of our goals is to keep encouraging the children in learning shapes, colors, and letters. We also want to work on positive peer interactions. I love to hear the words “I DID IT.” They are sharing their accomplishments, and I am proud to be part of it.
Heather Johnson - I have worked with young children for a year now. I am currently attending ICC working toward my associate degree. Outside of work I help out with my nephew’s classroom when they have holiday parties. One thing that I like to see from the children in my classroom is how they continue to grow and learn while working cooperatively together.
Stacey Timke - I worked as an assistant in the infant room, prior to becoming the cook. Outside of work I enjoy participating with my daughter in her Girl Scout troop activities. I try to focus on a menu that follows our food program guidelines, offering fresh fruits and vegetables several times a week. I also focus on keeping the kitchen clean and strive for that 100% health inspection score with the Health Department. I love going into the classrooms to see the children enjoying the food I cook for them. Sometimes the comments they make to me are priceless!
